Alec Shull

Lead Sports Academy Specialist – Baseball and Softball

Alec Shull joined Sanford Sports Academy in 2024 after spending eight years coaching baseball at the high school level and six years at the collegiate level. He is certified in Rapsodo® pitching and hitting technology and has worked with outfielders, infielders, catchers and hitters.

As a hitting coach at Ohio Northern University, the team batting average increased by 34% from 2017 to 2018, and the team made a conference tournament appearance for the first time in 18 years. As the infield coach at Wheaton College, the fielding percentage for the infield increased by 41% and the team batting average in conference play increased by 17%.

Shull believes his job as a coach is to help athletes achieve their short-term and long-term goals by developing trust and open communication with each player. He creates a high-energy environment where athletes feel motivated to give their best effort while having fun.

Shull enjoys working at Sanford Sports because he feels the coaches truly help players get better at their sport and accomplish their goals. He believes it’s a blessing to work with the next generation of baseball and softball stars.

As a high school athlete, Shull played centerfield for New Palestine High School in Indiana. In college, he was a utility player, playing third base, second base and all outfield positions at Urbana University and for the Madisonville Minors in the Ohio Valley Collegiate Baseball Summer League. He graduated in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.
