Meet the 7-on-7 football coaches

Sanford Sports Academy in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has added 7-on-7 football to its lineup of programs. 

Beginning this spring, players will compete across five divisions at the regional and national levels. Get to know the coaches of the inaugural season.

10U Team

Terrance Bryant

Terrance Bryant has been coaching youth football for over 15 years. During this time, he coached more than a decade at Riggs Premier Academy where he mentored boys and girls junior flag football teams. Additionally, he spent three years coaching youth tackle football.

Bryant played football professionally for the Sioux Falls Storm from 2005 to 2010 and has served as the Storm’s quarterback coach for the past 10 years.

Michael Greco

Michael Greco has been coaching football for over 15 years. He started his career at Pius X Catholic High School in Lincoln, Nebraska.

After moving back to South Dakota, he coached at Brandon Valley High School before coaching at Roosevelt High School in Sioux Falls for seven years. Since then, he has led football camps with various programs around the area. 
 

12U Team

Brandon White

Brandon White has been the head coach at Harrisburg High School for 15 years. He also has coaching experience with South Dakota Junior Football and flag football teams. 

Ryan Evans

Ryan Evans is the head football coach at Washington High School in Sioux Falls.

Steve Young

Steve Young is the president of Sanford Sports. He began his career as a physical therapist and certified strength and conditioning specialist and has been coaching youth sports in a volunteer capacity over the last 11 years. Young played wide receiver at the University of South Dakota from 1996 to 2000 where he was a four-year starter and a team captain.
 

14U Team

Paul Keizer

Paul Keizer, a native of Hull, Iowa, has an extensive background in playing and coaching football. He began his career as an offensive lineman and tight end at South Dakota State University.  

Following college, Keizer played professionally around the country and finished his football career with the Sioux Falls Storm in 2008. The next year, he started coaching for the Sioux Falls Storm while serving as a strength and conditioning coach for programs around the area.

Keizer now works as the executive director of the Sioux Falls School District’s Community Learning Centers.

Tyler Carda

Tyler Carda has nine years of experience coaching flag football and three years of experience coaching tackle football. Over the years, he has led several teams to championships in both leagues.

Carda is also involved in several other youth sports in the Sioux Falls community, such as baseball, softball and wrestling.
 

15U Team

Drew Reinschmidt

Drew Reinschmidt is a football coach at Harrisburg High School.

Preston Nordling

Preston Nordling is a football coach at Madison High School.

Austin Johnson

Austin Johnson is a football coach at Sanford Sports Academy and plays professionally for the Arizona Rattlers in Glendale, Arizona. 

Johnson formerly played football at Roosevelt High School in Sioux Falls. He then played at Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa, where he was a three-time All-American and a two-time NCAA National Champion.
 

18U Team

Mark Blackburn

Mark Blackburn played seven seasons for the Sioux Falls Storm from 2003 to 2010 and holds several of the team’s records. The University of South Dakota alum played linebacker in the Storm’s first four championship wins.

Blackburn is a five-time Indoor Football League All-League selection, a four-time Indoor Football League Champion and a United Bowl Most Valuable Player. Blackburn now coaches linebackers for the Sioux Falls Storm.

James Schrenk

James Schrenk has worked with collegiate and indoor football league teams, coaching offensive and defensive lines. He also has experience as a recruiting coordinator.

Schrenk started two years as linebacker for the University of Northern Colorado, earning an All-Big Sky honorable mention as a senior. As a special teams performer all four years – and two years at quarterback – Schrenk appeared in 44 straight games and totaled 67 tackles.
