South Dakota college basketball players team up with Sanford Sports Academy for Holiday Hoops Camp

The Sanford Sports Academy in Sioux Falls will host a Holiday Hoops Camp headlined by several South Dakota State University and University of South Dakota men’s basketball players on Sunday, December 22 at the Sanford Pentagon.

This unique opportunity will feature five SDSU and three USD hoopers providing guest instruction for grades K-8. All eight players competed for South Dakota high schools as well as local club teams. The guest instructors are:

  • USD sophomore Isaac Bruns (Dakota Valley HS / South Dakota Attack)
  • USD senior Paul Bruns (Dakota Valley HS / South Dakota Attack)
  • SDSU sophomore Kalen Garry (De Smet HS / Pentagon Schoolers)
  • USD freshman Porter Ihnen (Lennox HS / Sanford Sports Academy)
  • SDSU junior Matthew Mors (Yankton HS / South Dakota Attack)
  • SDSU redshirt freshman Joe Sayler (White River HS / Pentagon Schoolers)
  • SDSU freshman Alec Squires (Sioux Valley HS / Sanford Sports Academy)
  • SDSU redshirt freshman Damon Wilkinson (De Smet HS / Pentagon Schoolers)

The camp will be split into three different groups focusing on skill work such as dribbling, passing, shooting, decision-making, and scoring moves. Campers will also have the opportunity to get autographs and pictures with the instructors. The three times are:

  • K-2nd grade: 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
  • 3rd-5th grade: 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • 6th-8th grade: 12:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

The cost of the camp is $25 plus tax for grades K-2 and $35 plus tax for grades 3-8 and includes a camp T-shirt.
